Our Story

Landlocked surfers Simon Wears, Lara Hayward, Chrissy Nazif and Craig Hyde all met volunteering for the Wave Project in Bristol in 2020. We all agreed that the Wave Project community had given us that connection to surfing that we were missing, being based far from the sea. We wanted to connect with other surfers who were feeling the same thing, and the Home Counties Surf Club was born!

Established in 2021, we enable landlocked surfers regular connection with likeminded individuals through surf and adventure trips, swim events and social impact projects.

Our mission is to build community around surfing for those that don’t live by the ocean, facilitate access to water for marginalised groups and support better mental health & wellbeing via connection with nature. We’re passionate about surfing and the power of water and want to expand BlueHealth opportunities to all.

We’re a crew of creatives, adventurers, and friends. As our community grows, we’ll share our stories, find other water-lovers, work with aligned partner organisations and, most of all, make awesome memories by having incredible adventures.
